Consultation: If you prefer to conduct your own genealogy research, Before You Genealogy can offer a consultation to verify that your research is correct and provide you with advice to increase your chance of success.

Ancestral Research: Our genealogists specialize in tracing family lineages and uncovering the stories of your ancestors. Using a combination of historical records, archival documents, and advanced research techniques, we meticulously piece together your family tree, revealing the individuals and events that shaped your past.

Adoptee Searches: Searching for biological relatives as an adoptee can be a challenging and emotional journey. Our investigative genetic genealogists specialize in adoptee searches, utilizing DNA testing and genealogical research to reunite adoptees with their birth families and uncover their genetic heritage.

Unknown Parentage: If you're searching for biological parents or siblings due to unknown parentage, our investigative genetic genealogists can help. We analyze DNA test results, build family trees, and utilize investigative techniques to identify biological relatives and uncover the truth of your genetic origins.

DNA Test Interpretation: Curious about your genetic heritage? Our genealogists offer DNA test interpretation services, helping you make sense of your DNA test results and explore your ethnic origins, genetic relatives, and ancestral migration patterns. We provide expert guidance on selecting the right DNA test, understanding ethnicity estimates, and connecting with genetic matches.

Investigative Genetic Genealogy: Unheard of a few years ago, Investigative Genetic Genealogy (IGG) is a specialized area of genealogy that uses advanced DNA techniques coupled with genealogical research to identify unidentified human remains or assist law enforcement in identifying possible suspects in serious/violent crimes.

Genealogy Education: Before You Genealogy is available to lecture, teach, and conduct genealogical workshops for libraries, schools, societies, etc.

A professional summary/report of the completed research, copies of all images and documents used in analysis, and the project’s research log will be provided for each research project completed by Before You Genealogy.

Note: At Before You Genealogy, we cannot guarantee that your research question can be answered; however, research will be conducted to the best of our abilities. Charged time is based on the time spent searching for information, analyzing any information found, and reporting that information, regardless of the results.

Fees

The number of hours required to complete a project varies widely depending on what the research question is and how much information is available and accessible.

Before starting any project, an initial interview by phone or email will be conducted to discuss your research wishes and determine whether your project is a good fit for the resources at Before You Genealogy. If both parties agree to the basic terms, a contract will be submitted to the client for approval and signature.

At Before You Genealogy, we begin every potential client relationship with a free consultation. This initial interview, conducted by phone or email, allows us to discuss your specific genealogical research goals and wishes in-depth. It also gives us the opportunity to evaluate whether your project aligns well with the resources and expertise we have available. If during this free consultation we mutually agree that Before You Genealogy is a good fit for your needs, a formal contract will be prepared and submitted for your review and signature. Only after receiving your signed approval of the contract’s terms will we begin dedicated research work on your family history project. We believe this free consultation lays the crucial groundwork for a successful client experience.

Upon contract approval, the client shall remit a retainer equaling 50% of the mutually agreed-upon project fee. This initial fee secures the commitment of Beyond You Genealogy to commence work on the research project. Upon successful completion of the project, the remaining 50% of the contracted sum becomes due and payable. Please note that the final report detailing the findings and analysis will be withheld until the outstanding balance has been settled in full. This policy ensures a smooth and equitable transaction for both parties involved.

Any costs not negotiated within the contract (e.g., translations, certified records, document retrievals, etc.) will be coordinated with the client for approval before purchase. These costs are not associated with the original record and will be billed separately.
